F-type 1937 boxcar with brakeman's cab

The F-Type wagon was one of the most common wagons in the FS fleet for over 60 years, from the late 1930s to the 1980s and 1990s. For this reason, and because of its widespread use throughout the peninsula, it is perhaps the most recognisable wagon in the entire Italian State Railways rolling stock fleet. The F-Type 1937 wagon was one of the first to be made entirely of metal, with the use of wood limited to the loading platform. The presence of upper grates and adjustable lower vents (also on the ends) allowed for the loading of a wide variety of goods, including perishable products such as fruit.
The first batch of these wagons was ordered by FS in 1937, with the last batch being ordered in 1947. In total, more than 2,700 wagons of this type were built.
The braking system was included in the design, of the Breda type with empty/loaded and goods/passenger devices. Despite the very long operational life of this wagon, aesthetic changes have been very limited over time and have mainly concerned the suspension system (bushings and leaf springs).
Model features
The perfect H0 scale model is made of metal and resin, with the main parts of the body, chassis and roof made of 0.4mm photoetched nickel silver and the aesthetic details of the underbody made of high-definition molded resin. Axles and coupling holders are NEM standard. The buffers are in cast metal.
