UF-Type 1947T mail wagon

In 1947-1948, 46 F-Type wagons with metal bodies and single side vents (marked F 1 147 754-799) were converted into postal wagons to make up for the shortage of postal wagons after the war. The modifications to the body mainly consisted of adding two windows to the central door. Inside, a postal compartment and a toilet were created, with the space heated by a coal stove. The stove's chimney is visible on the roof and there is an ash drain under the body. Ladders for staff to climb up and a battery box to power the on-board services were also added under the body. Fifteen units were also equipped with electric heating (REC). They were marked UF 9.000-9.045.
Delivered in an entirely brown livery, they were repainted in slate grey in the 1960s.
In the 1980s, the need for mail carriages decreased, so some were converted into service carriages, in particular for use as canteen and dormitory carriages to support construction sites. From the documentation we were able to recover, we decided to reproduce a carriage from the Genova Division, assigned to the rail welding team.
